If there’s anything we love, it’s a happy ending. Our Brinlee Creek Ranch treatment center recently helped make a dream come true by hosting a ranch wedding so the bride’s father could walk her down the aisle.
Maegan Graves, daughter of Gregory “Coach” Graves, had a dilemma. Her dad was staying with us during his rehabilitation and was physically unable to attend her upcoming wedding in Mexico. Instead of canceling her plans, Maegan came up with an inspired solution: have two weddings, and hold the first at our ranch so her dad could be there.
This wedding would be very small, but it was oh so important.
Pate staff absolutely loved the idea. BCR’s Sue Coraluzzi, a former wedding planner, went into action, helping to organize decorations (she had plenty left over from her business) for the ranch wedding, and all the little details from setting up a special couple’s table to centerpieces to the wedding cake.
The day of the ranch wedding, the sun was shining and the weather was perfect. A stone breezeway provided a pretty setting for the ceremony which Sue draped romantically with netting. With guests and staff looking on, Maegan and her dad Coach came down the aisle just as she and her dad had always dreamed of.
People cry at weddings, sure, but this wedding was very special. All the guests were a little teary. The ceremony represented so many things. Romantic love. Hope for the future. Triumph over injury. And of course, the enduring love of a daughter and her dad. The joy was overwhelming.
After the ceremony, the new couple joined their guests in the dining room of our treatment building for a truly memorable reception.
We were so honored to be a part of making Maegan and Coach’s dream happen. The ranch wedding proves that the life interruption of rehabilitation doesn’t need to put a halt to your life. Sometimes, you just have to be a little creative. We wish them all the best!
