In 1974, Dr. Hayden lost her son, Ben, after he was hit by a car and died of a traumatic brain injury. At that time, medical and rehabilitation services for people with brain injuries were limited. Dr. Hayden became committed to improving the research and rehabilitation options for individuals after a brain injury, which ultimately led to the formation of Pate Rehabilitation.

Dr. Hayden’s passion to find new ways to help people has made Pate a leader in patient centered care. Our core values of Respect, Relationship, Integrity, Innovation, Compassion and Empowerment are found across our staff interactions, patient care, family support and advocacy work to improve brain injury rehabilitation. These core values are our foundation and help define the essence of Pate’s mission and culture.

The Ben Hayden award is given each year to an individual who exemplifies all of Pate’s core values. Each location nominates one person for this award. These individuals are celebrated throughout the company and are honored at a special banquet each Spring.

Jaimee Perea
Occupational Therapist

Savanna Oaks Ranch Nominee
Fort Worth Location

Jaimee Perea, an Occupational Therapist at Savanna Oaks Ranch, wears many different hats at Pate. On any given day, she is operating as a respected clinician, compassionate mentor/supervisor to students, our site’s Wellness Program Coordinator and seeker of knowledge and research. Her commitment to Pate’s core values, both at work and outside of Pate, are not effort-driven and line up naturally in all that she says and does.

From the minute she walks in a room, she brightens the mood with her bubbly and infectious personality. She is easily able to build relationships with those around her as she makes everyone feel included and supported. Jaimee is a natural leader and contributes to the “family” feel that Pate provides to each person who walks through its doors.

One of her many strengths is her ability to empower those around her. She kindly shares her knowledge with patients and staff alike in order to not only provide the best care, but also make them informed decision-makers and active participants in their recovery. She is innovative by nature and is often the first to bring ideas for new technology to the treatment floor. Above all, she shines in her ability to engage patients in treatments that are evidence-based and meaningful to the individual.

While working full-time, she has also obtained her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy and is a certified Low Vision Specialist. Jaimee graciously answers questions, helps make recommendations to other clinicians, and even works with other patients in the clinic who are not on her caseload but benefit from her expertise.

She is generous in sharing her time, knowledge, and talents with those around her. Jaimee exemplifies the type of person you would want to work with, as a patient or staff member, as she is the ideal combination of great character, skill, and compassion.
